The controversy of cayenne pepper diet started when actress Beyonce Knowles loss weight quickly in a short span of time. It has been reported that she lived only on cayenne pepper and water and lost more or less 20 pounds while filming the movie “Dreamgirls”.

Basically the diet focuses on fluids alone and uses cayenne pepper simply to add taste to it as it appears to some. However, aside from simply taste, cayenne pepper has some recorded benefits.

Health benefits of cayenne pepper

Cayenne pepper indeed has a strong taste but it also has health benefits. In fact, it is a good aid in digestion, acts to strengthen the heart and a treatment for mild pain.

Furthermore, there have been reports that cayenne pepper is also being used as wound dressing technique. However, despite of the many gains you can get, it is not enough to cover all the daily nutrients you need.

The diet

The cayenne pepper diet that actress Beyonce Knowles is more likely a food starvation and a water flush diet. It may have stemmed from The Master Cleanser which does salt water flush to eliminate impurities in the body. It is believed that weight loss happens when all impurities are removed from the body.

Salt water flush

In doing the flush with salt water, it is best to do it in the morning before you do anything else. For most people who do it, it makes them visit the bathroom within 30 minutes to an hour after the drink. It is therefore advised to be close to the toilet if this happens.

Recommendation from The Master Cleanser says a quarter of the water preparation is ideal. However, if you think you can only tolerated 16 ounces, just start from there. It is no good drinking the whole solution and vomiting it all. Small amount that remain in the body is better. This is good in cleaning the entire digestive tract.
