Some crafty ideas for gifts for Christmas

A lot of people this Christmas season will have a tight budget and this will limit their ability to spend a lot of money on gifts for people.  However, if you have some imagination, you can give some really creative gifts to loved ones.  The ideas presented are geared more for families with small children who like arts and crafts.

If you are an arts and crafts type of home, you will have all the supplies needed.  If not, it won’t cost you too much money to get pictures, hole puncher, scissors, construction paper, markers, crayons, color pencils, glitter, glue, glitter glue pens, card stock, and yarn.

All these items can be found in arts and crafts store and other large discount stores.  There aren’t any exotic items on this list.

If you have any book lovers in your life, homemade book marks make excellent gifts for book lovers.  You don’t need to buy expensive ereaders and protective covers like kobo covers.  These bookmarks are easily constructed from construction paper, glue and cardstock.

Your kids will love to design bookmarks for your family member and friends.  You can give them markers, crayons, or colored pencils to draw their favorite animals, favorite things, or self portraits.

In addition, you can take some photographs or magazine pictures, and cut out some of their favorite pictures and place them into the bookmark.  You can even add a tassel if you like.  It’s really easy with some yarn and a hole puncher.

Another great idea is to make homemade Christmas ornaments.  You can take a photograph and glue some heavy card stock to the back of the photograph.  Then you can shape the photograph into a fun shape with cookie cutters.  You trace around the cookie cutter to a shape, like a Christmas tree or something similar.  Then you cut around.  You then can add whatever decorations you like to the area.

If you are more of the cash or gift card giver kind of person, there is a way to buy gift cards at a discount.  People are constantly amazed that this is possible, but it really is true.  Oftentimes you can find them for as much as 70% off of the face value of the card.
