Child Safety Pillows Prevent Children from Falling Out of Bed

Child's Safety Pillows and Bed Bumpers

Protecting a child while sleeping in their bed at night is of the utmost importance to any parent.

A baby’s crib typically has the reputation of keeping the child safe and secure, but this will only last for a few years.  Eventually the child will have to transition from their crib to a regular bed.

It’s not uncommon for small children, and this includes babies, to wrestle themselves free from tucked in bedding covers and unsecured pillows and end up falling from the bed to the floor.

Most children who make the transition from their crib to their own “adult” bed will experience similar problems.

What did people do before safety pillows were available?

In the past what most parents did to secure their children in bed is push the bed up against a wall to secure one side and then strategically place pillows on the other side to keep them from falling on the floor.

However, this rarely works because the pillows do not remain in place throughout the night and the child still falls to the floor.  Also, regular bed pillows used as safety pillows can create a huge hazard of the child possibly suffocating on them at night.

Why Are Safety Pillows Better?

With the invention of the Snug Tuck Pillow and other similar safety bumper products like the Bed Bugz that are either pumped up with air or tucked under the bed sheet, parents are able to eliminate any risk of the child falling on the floor with a tubular type pillow that extends the length of the bed.  These pillows are firm enough to not create any concerns about suffocation, yet soft enough to make the child feel comfortable, safe and secure.

There’s also no need to push the bed up against a wall any longer as the Snug Tuck Pillow can be placed on both sides of the bed as well as the foot of the bed.

It’s very easy to secure the pillow to the mattress as well as dismantle so it can be easily transported to grandma’s house where you can feel confident that your baby’s bedding will be comfortable, safe, and secure.

Aren’t Bed Railings Just As Good?

Traditional bed railings are not only difficult to assemble but they can be quite dangerous to little children.  There are many reports of small children getting their arms, legs, and even their entire body caught under the railings while sleeping at night.

The Snug Tuck Pillow and other brands of foam safety bumpers as well as inflatable pillows that you can tuck under the sheets eliminate all of these concerns and much more.

A Checklist for Safely Constructed Wood Bunk Beds

A classic furniture item for a child’s bedroom is wood bunk beds. They’re great for saving space in smaller rooms, and they accommodate sleepovers easily if your child has his or her own room.

Safety is paramount when you’re bunk bed shopping. It’s important to buy quality with any furniture item, but more so with a bunk bed because your child will be sleeping on his mattress well above the floor level and not at floor level like on a daybed.

The heavier the construction, the more likely the bed will survive the abuse that kids tend to dish out. Heavier hardwood construction, such as oak or maple, is good, but without reinforced joints and corners, even hardwood bunks can wear and become loose over time.

Cherry wood is softer, but with quality construction, it can last as long as harder woods. Look for joints reinforced with metal parts, especially corner pieces. If you assemble the wooden bunk bed yourself, be sure you tighten each and every bolt, and check the assembly from time to make sure nothing has worked loose.

When shopping, pay close attention to the ladder, which is a danger point in any bunk bed set. The ladder should have sturdy, reinforced rungs and side rails, and the attachment hooks at the top should form a solid structure so they won’t slip loose while a child is climbing into the top bunk.

Finally, make sure the ensemble has a sturdy railing on the top bunk so that a child who tosses and turns while sleeping won’t risk rolling off the edge and suffering injury in a fall.

Until the novelty of sleeping in the top bunk wears off, it’s wise to supervise children at bedtime as they climb into the top bunk. Roughhousing, jumping, and climbing without a ladder should be discouraged. A little bit of caution allows you and your family to enjoy the benefits of wood bunk beds safely.

Euro Pillows for Back Support

A euro pillow is a square shaped pillow with equal dimensions of 26 inches by 26 inches and a size generally larger than rectangular shaped pillows. While rectangular shaped pillows are mostly used for sleeping, the giant square pillows are mostly used for home décor.

In hotel rooms or fancy homes, this type of pillow is usually covered with a euro pillow sham of designs or colors typically different from the other pillows decorated on the bed in order to catch attention. Most bedrooms that apply basic home interior designing know that to add a touch of elegance on the bed, leveling of pillows can create a more inviting look.

This is achieved by placing two euro square pillows first leaning against the headboard, followed by two rectangular shaped pillows for sleeping, and to accentuate further by placing throw pillows in front of the rectangle pillows. That is a great way of arranging pillows in a simple but stylish way.

Though the euro cushions are primarily used for home décor, one great use for it is for back support. Due to its fluffy and fully stuffed interior and huge size, it can provide a more comfortable position in sitting. This is especially useful when doing relaxation activities like watching television.

Sitting on the sofa or on the bed can be uncomfortable especially when you’ve seated for quite some time. Having the euro square pillow o support your back is a great way to avoid discomfort as a result of prolonged sitting while watching television, reading a book, and while working on your computer or laptop. Its large size can truly support your upper and lower back.

It would be nicer then if you have two euro cushions for the bed and another two for other purposes such as for back support. Chances are some members of your family would need to use one outside the bedroom. It is best to be prepared at all times so your decoration on the bed won’t be spoiled.
