How Crafts Help Kids Think

Many parents and teachers spend lots of time looking for easy craft projects for their children and students to do. The fact that they are looking for crafts that are easy shows crafts in a negative light.

The truth is that good arts and crafts for children should not be difficult and if they are, then they are not really appropriate for children. Sometimes you will have some websites claiming that they have really easy crafts for kids to do and they may be easy but, are also not good for kids.

Crafts when done right, in a developmentally appropriate manner should be very beneficial for child, even teaching them to think.

Let us say for example that you are a teacher and you need to make a fourth of july crafts project for the kids to bring home.

One way of doing this is to make a flag. Then  hold up this template of what the flag should look like and have the child create the same exact flag that you held up for them to copy.

This however, gives the child no benefit. There is no thinking involved, no creativity, no enjoyment and the only thing the kid gets out of it is maybe a bit of work oh his fine motor coordination.

If you really want children to learn to think when doing crafts the way to do so is as follows:

Prepare an empty flag for the children. The prepare an assortment of materials that the children can use to decorate their flags with.

Just because it is July fourth does not mean that the children have to make stars ad strips. If you give them an array of red, white and blue materials and allow them to create the kind of flag that they want, you will be very surprised. There will be tremendous creativity involved plus lots of thinking.

The children now have all of these materials in front of them and they have to make the decision on how to decorate that flag. If that’s not thinking at their level I don’t  know what is.

How can you make things interesting in a long distance relationship? Well, the problem is that you can’t follow a pattern in order to spice things up. You can’t do something repetitively that will guarantee “success” because there is no success.

Thanks to evolution in technology, we now have access to plenty of tools for the purpose of communication such as smartphones, webcams, instant messenger etc. It’s easier to deal with the distance these days than it was 20 years ago.

Here is my long distance relationship advice that will help you deal with some of the issues.

  • If we draw the line, our sexual nature isn’t that complicated. For that reason we just need a couple of “stimulants” and our partners will maintain their sexual interest in us. Using sexual stress releases like games, voice chat, text messaging, video chat etc, are key in maintaining that primal basis any relationship needs.
  • Don’t linger too much in the “familiar zone”. A lot of people have the wrong impression that they need to always be in that zone where they are everything for their partners. Don’t be afraid to be different than your partner. This is how you spice things up. And don’t forget to play. Several interesting questions to ask a guy or a girl can do wonders for your relationship at this stage.
  • Don’t stop your individual growth. The shortest path to kill a relationship is to stop evolving on your own path. Whatever you do in your normal life just don’t stop doing it. That is the source of your life and of your sexual energy. In this way you will spice things up without even planning on doing so because you are always doing something new.

It’s not easy to have that connection with your partner if there is distance between you two, but is surely not impossible.  Many people find that if they don’t concentrate on just the sexual aspect of relationships things work out a lot better in the long run and are much less frustrating.  Libido in women is not all about sexual desire after all.  Making a long distance relationship work has a lot do with communication – open, honest communication.
