Customizing an Electric Guitar

Those that have an electric guitar more than likely want some way in which people are going to know that this is their guitar. This is where customizing an electric guitar comes into play.

However, before the person goes all out and starts doing whatever they please, there are a few things that they should keep in mind in order to avoid ruining the instrument in the first place, which can cost them hundreds to fix, or to buy a replacement.

Are Decals Okay?

There are those that have their guitar customized by adding decals to it. This is fine, however, the person needs to understand that if they do this, when it comes time to remove them that chances are they are going to leave a residue behind that is going to be sticky, or it could completely ruin the wood. This is something that the person needs to weigh and decide if it is worth it.

If they do decide to do this it is recommended that they go to a music shop and look at the decals that are made for guitars in order to get something that may not cause as much damage.

What about Colored Strings?

Other people customize their guitar by adding strings that are colored, though many believe that this does affect just how the guitar is playing, and is not something that they recommend.

For those that are really wanting to have their guitar as something that people are going to notice, then they are going to want to get a custom paint job and detailing to make this guitar stand out.

Most people have seen these types of regular or kids electric guitar, they are bright vibrant colors and they may even have the person’s name on the neck of the guitar, which is just something that is awesome for most players to have.

A custom paint job for an electric guitar can cost several hundred, into the thousands of dollars depending on what you want, since the guitar often has to be totally taken apart by a professional, painted and customized, then put back together.

Those that usually go to this extreme are those that are looking to make it big, or are already quite popular as a guitar player and want to leave a lasting impression.

Under no circumstances should you paint the guitar yourself. Regular paint that you find in hardware stores could eat thorough the plastic coating that is there and soak through to the wood and could affect the sound that you are getting from the guitar.

Top Five Tips For External Hard Drive Data Recovery

The process for doing external hard drive data recovery is really no different from the process used for internal hard disks.

However, there are some factors which can affect the chances of you recovering files and/or causing further damage to the disk if it is experiencing a mechanical fault. This article walks through some of these factors.

The first problem is if you keep on using the hard drive after deleting files.

While data recovery software will be capable of recovering files that have been deleted, lost or corrupted, it will not be able to recover files if they have been overwritten by any new files.

The second problem to consider are mechanical faults.

If you hear odd sounds such as a buzzing noise or a ticking noise from the hard drive that can indicate the spindle has seized up or that there are problems with the read write heads or motor. If you ignore these noises, then the fault can get worse. To resolve the issue seek professional help or a PC repair shop to make the repairs.

The third problem relates to running Window’s own disk repair tools prior to running your data recovery software.

While tools such as ScanDisk and Check Disk are capable of running is some regular computer repair and maintenance tasks, such as fixing bad sector issues on the disk, they also can potentially reorganize data on your disk. If this occurs your data recovery application will find more difficult to retrieve file fragments from around the disk.

The fourth problem relates to the applications or software that you use for recovering your files.

All data recovery tools need to know which file system format is being used on the device to be scanned. The majority of hard drives will use the fat 32 file system, and consequently most data recovery tools also support this format. However, if your external hard drive data recovery software needs to support some other form of file system structure then you will need a specialist tool.

The fifth problem relates to the nature of software scans.

Each recovery application analyses your external hard drive memory for signs of lost files in a different way. Consequently, each tool can potentially find a different list of files. If you give up your data recovery analysis after one tool, simply because you do not find your file, then you are missing out on retrieving your data.

Most tools provided a free trial scan so you can at least test whether the application is capable of finding your file in the first place without any cost outlay.
